As a Senior Criminal Defence and Family Lawyer at Jay & Co Barristers and Solicitors, I have developed extensive courtroom experience across a broad range of criminal matters, appearing in Magistrates Court throughout Victoria and the County court. I have also had the opportunity to instruct in the Supreme Court.
My experience includes bail applications, appeals, pleas involving serious federal offences, and I have instructed in a SORA Hearing and in trial matters both summary and committals.
I manage a diverse caseload spanning summary offences through to serious indictable matters, with a strong focus on strategic advocacy and achieving the best possible outcomes for clients.
I also have handled Family matters involving consent orders, child access arrangements, child protection applications and intervention order applications.
Now working as a Senior Lawyer, I also oversee a junior lawyer; a legal intern and assist in supporting our Principal and Director. I am committed to providing diligent and effective representation while continuing to build my expertise in criminal law.

As a junior criminal defence lawyer, Akshay hit the ground running, gaining extensive courtroom experience across a diverse range of criminal matters. Akshay appeared in Mentions and Contest Mentions at various Magistrates’ Courts, including Melbourne, Dandenong, Frankston, Ringwood, Heidelberg, and Moorabbin, confidently advocating for my clients. Akshay has also conducted a bail application in the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court, demonstrating my ability to navigate high-stakes proceedings with precision and care. Akshay’s experience extends to higher courts, where he has instructed in a SORA Hearing in the Supreme Court and made appearances in the County Court for both an appeal matter and a plea involving a serious federal offence. Akshay has also instructed in a rape trial in the County Court, showcasing my capacity to handle complex and sensitive cases. Currently, Akshay manages a robust caseload of numerous matters, ranging from summary offences to serious indictable crimes. This diverse portfolio reflects Akshay’s commitment to providing diligent and effective representation to every client.
